1. Insurance can cost a lot, but no insurance can cost a lot more!
2. If you can access employer health insurance, you may want to grab it!
3. Comparing health insurance plans can be confusing, but will increase your satisfaction in the long run.
4. Low premiums don't always mean cheap plans. The bargain plan may not save you money in the long run.
5. Even good coverage can have big loopholes. Don't expect your insurance to pay for everything. Consider deductibles, maximums, copays, etc.
6. Check out networks (i.e. PPO networks) before signing up.
7. Consider keeping your insurance if you lose your job. Of course, you'll usually have to pay the entire amount.
8. You usually pay more for freedom. I.e. a plan with a network usually costs you less, but is more restrictive.
9. Working couples need to consider which spouse's insurance to take.
10. Tax breaks can help. You may be able to deduct medical expenses or premiums.
