Life Insurance Buying Guide

I just found a good Life Insurance Guide

If you are in the market for life insurance and wonder about the different types: term life, whole life, and universal life, then I found a good reference.

Life Insurance Buying Guide

The guide explains the three basic types of life insurance, as well as some optional benefits (riders) you can add to many policies like critical illness, disability, and waiver of premium.

The page also gives you the option to quote and buy life insurane online at a very compeitive rate, or to perform other insurance rate quotes. This is a good idea to compare insurance, get some rate quotes, and even apply and buy life insurance online.

If you've bene approached by an insurance agent, or have just thought you should protect your family with life insurance, then I urge you to visit The Life Insurance Buying Guide.

Compare Life Insurance - Term Life, Mortgage Life, Whole Life, Universal Life

Quick Comparison of Life Insurance

Term Life Insurance
Make sure you are getting the most value for your money
- Generally, term life insurance is the most affordable life insurance option because it is purchased for a specified term of years. It may the best choice for a growing family because it will be in effect while it is needed the most, and because it is usually the cheapest!

Mortgage Life insurance is a popular term life insurance product, and it is advertised to be "easy issue" soon after a home is purchased, and is designed to cover the loan amount.

Term Life can have optional riders attached to it to provide for disability, critical illness, etc., but of course, these riders will drive up the cost. Some term life has a Return Of Premium Option (ROP). Normally, term life insurance does not build up any cash value, which is one of the reasons it is usually the most affordable option. The Return of Premium rider will return all premiums paid after a term policy expires, but of course, it will cost you more in premium dollar.

Whole Life Insurance

Whole Life Insurance is the original insurance, and it is meant to be permanant insurance, though some policies can be paid up over a span of ten or twenty years. Nowadays, many people buy a smaller amount of whole life insurance to make sure they will give their heirs money for final expenses, debt settlements, etc. It is also used to transfer wealth.

Universal Life Insurance

Universal Life insurance is another form of permanant life insurance that usually pays a more competitive return on the excess premium paid into it. It may be considered as a financial or savings vehicle, as well as an insurance policy.

Health Care Spending To Double in 10 Years

Health Care Spending is expected to double in 10 years according to an article in Yahoo news. Article Link.
This will be right about the time that the bulk of the baby boomer generation is full into medicare. Since I was born right at the very tail end of that generation, I won't have made it yet. Actually by the time I slide into medicare age another decade later, medicare may have some of the pain eased because the older baby boomers will have passed on. I expect that we will have a big problem in about 10 years, and it will probably last for about 10 years.

Most of the health care spending issue will be on prescription drugs. More agressive treaments, and more medicinces will be available at the pharmacy. The good news is, many more diseases will be controlled by pills, and more people can survivie and live comfortable lives. This is Good! The bad news is that it's going to cost.

If you're concerned about rising health care costs, and you are one of the 47 million Americans without health insurance, it really is time to consider a plan to protect you from a castastrophe. The health care cost situation is not expected to improve! A high deductible, catastrophic plan may not take that big of a bite out of your budget, and it will give you peace of mind and could prevent a tragedy that doesn't have to be!

I've posted before about ways to keep health insurance affordable, and you can search through this blog to find the articles. My point is, if you've been quoted a health insurance plan before that's just more than you can afford, please consider looking again, armed with some knowldedge!

Hillary Clinton & Health Insurance Blog For Health

Senator Clinton Weighs In On Health Insurance and Breast Cancer

FROM THE YAHOO BLOG....

Until we have a cure, our best defense against breast cancer is early detection. With access to proper screening exams, we can diagnose breast cancer at its earliest stages, when it's easiest to treat. Unfortunately, too many women in our country are uninsured and underinsured, and don't have access to important preventive care. As part of our efforts against breast cancer, I support efforts to expand access to quality health insurance, through programs like those that allow uninsured individuals to buy into existing health insurance programs, or those that make it easier for small businesses to offer a comprehensive health benefit to their employees.

Lower Car Insurance Rates

Everybody wants to know how to get cheaper insurance. I think I posted about lowering health insurance rates a week or so ago, but actually car insurance is a much more popular topic!

Here's Some Tips to Lower Your Car Insruance Bill!

1. Prices vary, so shop around! Experts tell us to get, at the least, three price quotes for your local area. Of course, this quick form gives you an easy way to do that from the comfort of you home. Click Here for A Quick Online Insurance Quoting Form. The form will allow you to select a type of insurance (i.e. auto), and of course, they will need your local area and what sort of car you drive. You can use that form to select car insurance, or to select an auto/home discount.

2. Compare prices of auto insurance before you buy a car. Rates vary dramaticallly depending upon the make of your car. You can use the quote form listed above to test out different car makes and types too.

3. Seek out discounts. Some companies give discounts for good driving records, good credit, or depending upon age or marital status! Some companies do not penalize an accident or traffic ticket as much as others.

That's why it's good to compare and give as much information as possible so you can get an accurate local quote!

Compare Term Life Insurance Rates

We noticed dramtic differences in the term life insurance rates for the top 10 US companies. The same 45 year old, non-smoking man in fairly good health could find rate quotes that varied by $300 a year. These are for the same man, and from the top 10 largest companies. Over the course of paying for a 20 year term life insurance policy, he would have a $6,000 difference.

All we are are saying, is that it makes sense to do some homework before you commit to a long term life insurance policy for yourself, or for your family. If you have an isurance agent you like and trust, it may be worth a couple of bucks more to do business with him or her. However, I really don't know many people I like six thousand bucks worth!

Before you sign a contract, you really don't have anyting to lose if you do an online quote. You can get a free, online rate quote in about five minutes. Make sure the quoting system has a privacy policy, is on a secure server, and it's a good sign if they participate in the Better Business Bureau online system or some similar watchdog service.

If you'd like more information on the Top 10 Term Life Insurance Company Rate Quotes, or if you'd just like a free, no-obligation quote, or if you'd like instant term life insurance, stop by 24/7 Quote Us Term Life Information and Quotes!

Remember to Pack Your International Health Insurance!

What is International Insurance?

Many domestic health insurance companies do not provide coverage overseas, and
even if they do, it is usually on a very limited basic. It always suprises me that we
Americans, who are so obsessed about health insurance to the point of staying with jobs and quitting businesses, will travel overseas an not give a thought to our medical coverage!

International Health insurance is also known as travel insurance, worldwide insurance, etc. It provides coverage for your health 24 hours a day in the case of
a medical situation. Many plans also include dental coverage, emergency evacuations, etc. Some comprehensive plans even cover you for lost luggage and trip cancellations.

Most of the worldwide health plans are low in cost, can be issued on a short term basis, and can be bought and printed from your home computer.

Car Insurance In Mexico for US Residents

Mexican Law Doesn't Recognize US Insurance

If you live in the US or Canada, and have your insurance from your home country,
you may want to think twice before you drive your car into Canada. American
drivers who have an accident in Canada may not be covered by their normal
car insurance policies.

However many Americans, especially those in border towns, do make frequent
trips into Mexico, and they want to take their cars. You can get
short term Mexican Car Insurance with Free Legal Aid. If you travel
into Mexico frequently, it is very quick to get your insurance renewed online.

It usually costs about $5 a day, and is a good investment.

Looking for Life Insurance? Online Quote and Buy

If you are not around, who will provide for your family?

Everybody knows they need life insurance, but many potential insurance clients
just do not want to be involved in a high pressure sales call. They have no
idea how much life insurance they need or how much it will cost.

If you are supporting people, you need to consider how much money they would
need to cover expsenses for several years if you died and could not provide
for them anymore. Of course, you are also considering the fact that your
funeral would need to be paid for, so you'd better add in an extra 10,000 or
so of expenses.

You will probably find a term policy that is cheaper than you thought it would be,
and can give your family protection without putting a large dent in your budget.

International Travel and Insurance

Overseas Medical Insurance.

More and more people are traveling outside of their home country, either for business, recreation or personal reasons.Domestic health insurance usually does not provide coverage for overseas medical emergencies, and international travelers are unable to obtain this type of protection after they are outside of their home country. Furthermore, most traditional health insurance does not cover expenses for an emergency medical evacuation, medical reunion, return of mortal remains, trip interruption or loss of checked luggage.

John Edwards and Health Care Reform. Health Insurance for All Again!

John Edwards, another democratic candidate, is calling for health care reform! Yeah, let the games begin. Maybe this time the rhetoric will actually turn into action. He wants to get rid of Bush's tax cuts for people who make over $200,000. Since I don't make over $200,000, I have no problem with this. :)

John Edwards wants to raise some taxes and cut loopholes for the wealthy to help pay for health care and health insurance reform article on Yahoo.

I do have a problem with the fact that 47 million Americans are uninsured. If you don't have a problem with this fact, then you should check out Bush's plan. Even he says that Americans who receive health insurance through work, because of tax breaks that companies get to provide it, don't have any idea of how much it costs. I have to agree. If everybody understood how much health insurance really costs then people would be taking to the streets!

Right now, only self employed people, contractors, etc. who provide their own health insurance - or the 47 million uninsured seem to grasp the price. Maybe others do, and they don't start their own businesses and are held hostages to corporate America because of ... ta da....health insurance.

It's time to address the issue.

Bush Plan May signal the end of Employer Based Health Insurance!

Wow, the Chicago Tribute thinks the new Bush Plan may signal the end of employer based health insurance. Well, you know I disagree with Bush the second on so many things, but for once, I see his point - and I'm sure it's an unpopular one. How come you have to do this to me just when I'm all set to start shouting HILLARY!

LINK TO CHICAGO TRIBUTE ARTICLE

Points to Ponder that are bound to be unpopular, but I sort of get them....

First, he'd eliminate the tax breaks for health insurance and treat it like any other form of compensation. That would make consumers more sensitive to costs, his advisers said.

Second, the president would create a tax deduction for health insurance, similar to the existing deduction for having a child. Families would get a deduction of $15,000 beginning in 2009; individuals would could deduct $7,500. Annual increases would be tied to inflation.

Consumers would get the full value of the deduction, no matter how much they actually spent. Spending in excess of the deduction's amount would be taxed as ordinary compensation.

Comments? Hate it? Love it? Do you at least GET that we need to make employees aware of what a benefit they are getting in health insurance? I do.

Buying Insurance General Tips From Uncle Sam

Uncle Sam is always the source of lots of great information if you know where to look. In my constant search for insurance education, I tripped upon this government consumer website:
http://consumeraction.gov/caw_insurance_general_tips.shtml

For More Insurance Tip, also check out 24/7QuoteUS Insurance Quotes and Information.

When buying insurance:

Find out whether your state insurance department offers any information concerning insurance companies and rates. This is a good way to get a feeling for the range of prices and the lowest-cost providers in your area.
Check several sources for the best deal. Try getting quotes from a website such as www.insweb.com, but be aware that many online services may provide prices for just a few companies. An independent insurance agent that works with several insurers in your local area might be able to get you a better deal.
Check the financial stability and soundness of the insurance company. Ratings from A.M. Best (www.ambest.com), Standard & Poor's (www.standardandpoors.com), Moody's Investors Services (www.moodys.com), and Weiss Ratings, Inc. (www.weissratings.com) are available online and at most public libraries.
Research the complaint record of the company. Contact your state insurance department, or visit the website of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (www.naic.org), which has a database of complaints filed with state regulators.
Find out what others think about the company's customer service. Consumers can rate homeowner insurance companies at www.jdpower.com/homes/insuranceratings.
Once you pay your first insurance premium, make sure you receive a written policy. This tells you the agent forwarded your premium to the insurance company. If you don't receive a policy within 60 days, contact your agent and the insurance company.
