Off Topic: Keyword Spam

O.K. here's an off topic rant - I applied for a link at a popular links site for blogs. They rejected my offer because they said this blog was a keyword spammer. In case you don't know what that is - it's a site that just exists to have a lot of keywords in the system.

I was ticked off. Of course, this blog is about insurance topics, and so I tend to use that word A LOT. I just don't know what else i should call it... plans, policies, whatever?????

I looked at the sites they did link, and they were all fu-fu sites with lots of pictures (probably stolen from elsewhere on the internet.).

So, anyway, there's my rant for the day!

Aren't BLOGS great?

Help! Health Insurance if you're already sick????

This question comes up at least 3 times a week. I have clients with conditions like rhumatoid arthritis - auto-declines with many health insurance for individual companies. How can they get help?

This info applies to Texas - but I'm sure other states have similar options - you just have to check with your own state insurance commission - so here goes -

If you already have any health insurance, the best bet isprobably to hold on to it. If you don't, the best advice that anagent should give you would be to look at the Texas Risk Pool first. The website link is: http://www.txhealthpool.com/ . However, thereare some people who do not qualify: (Make a phone call to the riskpool to be sure you are interpreting the rules correctly.) 1. The rules for eligability are here, and you can see they arequite numerous:: http://www.txhealthpool.com/eligibil.html 2. Pre-existing conditions may be excluded for 12 months_. Wow. Ihad to read that paragraph twice. To me, it seems like the reasonthat anybody would consider the risk pool, is that they do have apre-existing condition. Read the 'pre-existing' condition paragraphon the web page in section 1. 3. _They cannot afford it. Many middle class Americans make toomuch to qualify for Medicaid or a county health system, but stillcannot afford the risk pool. ...or they do have access to a groupinsurance plan, but because of unemployment of other circumstances,it is unaffordable.

ANOTHER SITUATION MIGHT ARISE WHERE YOU DO HAVE AN INDIVIDUAL PLAN,BUT YOU HAVE A WAIVER OR RIDER ATTACHED TO IT, AND YOU MUST WAIT OUTA PERIOD OF TIME BEFORE YOU HAVE COVERAGE. YOU MAY HAVE A HIGHDEDUCTIBLE TO KEEP YOUR PREMIUMS IN LINE, AND STILL FIND YOURSELFBURIED UNDER LOTS OF OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES. PERHAPS PRESCRIPTIONSAREN'T COVERED, OR THEY HAVE A VERY HIGH DEDUCTIBLE.A SIMPLE BROKENARM, WITH A TRIP TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM, COULD COST YOU A LOT OFMONEY, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO MEET YOUR DEDUCTIBLE.

Pregnant with No Insurance?

Most states don't have a lot of choices (make that zilch) for pregnant women who need individual health plans with maternity coverage. Any maternity coverage available in individual health plans generally has long waiting periods, and doesn't come close to meeting the costs of care.

A possible solution lies with consumer driven health plans like the maternity card. Having a maternity card negotiater work on your health plan, and using contracted rates will often save thousands of dollars...even up to 65 percent. These plans are not insurance, but access to pre-negotiated rates that are shockingly lower than what uninsured consumers are paying.

Get more information on one of the most popular plans, Maternity Card, here: CLICK HERE TO LOOK AT MATERNITY CARD.

If you are low income, check with your local Medicaid office. They are often very leniant when dealing with pregnant women.

New Blog

In addition to my interest in saving people money on health, life and dental benefits, I'm also a hobbiest at coin collecting. I mean life and health insurance is a fairly consuming profession, but people have to have hobbies!

New Dental and Health BLOG By MOI!

O.K. most of the questions I'm getting are about dental and health benefits plans. These are not individual insurance...they don't cost enough .... ha ha.

Anyway, to keep this one on topic: i.e. insurance quotes - I will try to attack the other subject over yonder:

Dental Insurance doesn't cover braces and cosmetics????

Yup, you got it. You thought you had dental insurance, but you find that your policy does not cover braces and orthodontics...some don't...or require and additional rider (and premium).

Look at a dental plan! A dental plan is NOT INSURANCE..... It is a participating network of dentist who agree to charge network prices, which save up to 65% on normal bills. It is a fact...generally people who have insurance are charged a total price that is less than people who do not. Why? This is because dentists and doctors agree to negotiated fees to be part of an insurance network.

Well, this is the network without the insurance. You pay much less for belonging to the network, are expected to be able to cover the cost (sometimes providers will work out a payment plan), and are entitled to the negotiated fees that insurance companies would pay.

My site allows you to choose from different plans in your own area, by zip, costs, areas of specialty....all that. Look for Dental Plans and VALU+ here:

Health Insurance Costs Too Much!

Yup. I know it does. On the other hand, insurance companies are crying that they are making little to no money on their plans. The thing about health insurance...as compared to say....life insurance...is that people actually use it many times!

See, the thing about life insurance is that the average client doesn't really keep their policy until they die. Companies collect money on term for a few years...and then the client lets it slide. Oh, some people do keep their policies, but they might not die within the 10 - 30 year term! Good for them! Good for the insurance company!

Well, health insurance is a different animal. I hope you don't die in the next several decades, but I am sure you will get sick - at least a little - and from an insurance agent's perspective, commissions on health insurance are much lower than on life. Why? See the paragraph above.

Anyway, you do have options. I always suggest going with a higher deductible just so you have catostrphic care, and that ticket to the hospital! That combined, with a good PPO network should help keep your health costs, and your premiums down. Plus, higher deductibles plans are easier to get issued.

See what I really think:

Dental Plans - One More Thing

Oh Yeah.....I've written more about dental plans on my insurance quote sites!

Individual Dental Insurance

What's the deal?
Well for the best coverage, I'd suggest a dental indemnity coverage, combined with some sort of dental network that negotiates fees for various services. As you are probably aware, most dental insurance for individuals, and some group dental policies, will have waiting periods for serious conditions (i.e. crowns, root canals, etc.). It is more likely that they will pay for things like teeth cleanings right away. Normal dental work like fillings fall somewhere in between. That may have a short, or no, waiting period.

Dental insurance for individuals can be expensive. If you need work done quickly, would like to minimize what you get for the premium you pay, or just cannot afford another inusrance preium, dental discount networks are an inreasingly popular alternative.

I like these two:
TeamCorp Valu+ Plan comes with group dental benefits plus many other health benefits like Vision, Health, etc. Click Here to Learn About Valu+ Dental!

For a cheap dental plan alternative that still gives great value, try a selection from DentalPlans.Com - Some dental plans start at 79.95 A YEAR!

Good Luck with Your Dental Plan Search!
