Term Vs. Permanant Life Insurnace

O.K. now here's the big term vs. permanant life insurance debate.

1. Term life insurance is purchases for a time period. This period is usually 10, 20, or 30 years. The thought is that it is purchasing 'pure life insurance' for the period of time that a person will actually need it. This is usually the least expensive way to initially buy insurance - but does it work out cheaper in the long run? After the term, the consumer will have to renew the insurance at substantially higher rates because the client is older - if the client can renew at all. FOr young people to middle aged peole who are saving or investing, or who want to protect an asset that will be paid off (i.e. a home mortgage), term is probably a great solution.

2. Perm. Life insurance may be universal or whole life. For a given age and health status this insurance will have higher premiums than term, but the rates are usually given to last the life of the policyholder. So if a consumer buys a whole life policy at 40, he/she will pay the same premiums at the age of 80 - a much better deal than trying to find a term policy as a senior citizen!

Online Quotes or Not to Online Quote

Hi. Sorry Thanksgiving seemed to take a toll, but I'm back to work now.

I don't know why everybody doesn't do a little insurance shopping online. Even if you prefer to talk to an agent, it doesn't hurt to do some homework before you set an appointment. That way, you can have a good idea what product you are most interested in, and a good idea what your budget will allow.

If you're looking for health insurance, short term medical, student medical, life, auto, long term care, or homeowners insurance, a great place to start is:
247quoteus.com

The agent is licensed in Texas so some resources are specific to that state, but all types of insurance can be quoted there. Some products can even be purchased online. Saves one the trouble of an appointment with a GASP insurance salesman, doesn't it?
Hope you had a great turkey day!

Part D or not to Part D

If you receive Medicare Part A and/or Part B, you will eligable to sign up for the new RX insurance card. Most people will have to pay a premium, and these premiums may vary depending upon the type of plan selected.

The plans are being sold by private insurance companies, but you may elect to have the premium deducted from your social security check.

If you already have prescription coverage through a Medicare Advantage Plan, Private Insurance Plan, etc. you may not have to sign up for a Part D plan. In fact, it may be to your disadvantage to do so. Be sure and check with your current insurance company to be sure.

More Later... This could be a book.

Be Careful of No Medical Life

One popular life insurance product advertises that you do not need to take a medical exam. This may be o.k. and it may not.

Insurance companies charge different rates for people in different health categories. Often, easy issue policies are all standardized to a higher risk rating, meaning you will pay a higher premium.

It may be in your best interest to go to the trouble of getting a blood exam, so you know that you are getting the lowest possible risk. This will mean you will get the lowest possible risk.

On the other hand, pulling an MIB profile from the medical database may be enough for a low risk category. You want to check for sure, to know what sort of rate you are getting.

Why Go Online?

You know why you want to use an online service to compare insurance rates, rather than meeting with an agent. Of course, being an agent, I know that my professional knowledge, certification classes, and industry updates can give me knowledge to HELP PEOPLE. Really....

However, I also know the other side of the coin. Some insurance salesmen and women can make used car salesmen look inhibited. It's less stressful to just look info up online in the privacy of your own home.

You can also access the internet 24/7, where most agencies have office hours. You may get an agent to visit you in the evening, but not many will venture out in the wee hours of the morning.

You also have the privacy issue going on. If you are applying for health and life insurance, you may not want to discuss health issues with a stranger. Some health and life policies can be applied for online from the quote, policy selection process right down to printing off a policy.

You may not want to admit how little of your budget you can set aside for insurance to another person. It's a little easier to just select rates from a computer.

Anyway, I understand why online quoting is popular. GO for it!

Smart Consumers Do Research

Welcome. Welcome. As an insurance professional, I know that the best insurance rates are not always found from TV ads, etc. no matter what the adv. may say.

An easy, private way to compare different plans for life insurance, health insurance, etc. is to use online insurance quotes.

I like this site because (ha ha) I developed it! Kidding. I did develop it, but I listened to the clients I have in the off-line world about what they would like to do in the privacy of their own home. I will post more on this later, but if you're insterested in reasearching, try:
