Teen Insurance and Back To School!

Got the teenage drive insurance blues?

If you have a young driver in your household, you may have already had car insurance sticker shock! We've heard of car insurance bills doubling and tripling over the rates the experienced driver parents were paying before. It is true that drivers under 25 usually have the highest car insurance premiums, and you males have rates that are higher than their female contemporaries.

However, if your young driver is taking his wheels back to shool, you may be able to do a few things to contain the cost! First, good student discounts have been around for a long time. Just as young drivers are assumed to be larger risks than more mature and experienced drivers, good students are considered better risks than students who do not maintain at least a B averge.

The National Safety Council also has information on accredited driver safety courses, and insurance companies will offer a discount for courses like this. Also, if you make sure the vehicle is equiped with safety features, then insurance companies will take the actual car into account.

Student Driver Insurance or Young Driver Insurance Bills are steep, especially for boys! But you can certainly find some discounts to take the edge off!
